Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated: September 12, 2026
RV Field Manual is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
What this means in practice
When you click certain links on this site and then buy something on Amazon, we may receive a commission. The price you pay is exactly the same as it would be if you had gone to Amazon directly and typed the product name into the search box.
- It costs you nothing. Affiliate commissions come out of Amazon's advertising budget, not out of your purchase price.
- It does not decide what we recommend. Commission rates vary by product category. We do not steer readers toward higher-paying categories, and the editorial process that selects products does not have access to commission data.
- It does not soften what we say. Every product we cover gets its limitations described alongside its strengths. A recommendation that comes with a warning is worth more to you than one that does not, and it is the only kind we are interested in publishing.
How to recognise an affiliate link
Affiliate links appear on this site in these forms:
- Buttons labelled View on Amazon or Check price on Amazon
- Product cards showing an image, a product title, and a call-to-action button
- Product names linked inline within the text of an article
- Product names linked inside comparison tables
The practical rule: if a link or button takes you to Amazon, assume it is an affiliate link unless the article states otherwise. Links to manufacturer documentation, specification sheets, service manuals, and regulatory or standards bodies are not affiliate links and earn us nothing.
What we do not do
In line with the FTC's Endorsement Guides and Amazon's Associates Program Operating Agreement, we hold to the following:
- We do not display prices, star ratings, review counts, or availability taken from Amazon. Those figures change constantly, and a figure captured weeks ago and presented as current is misleading even when it was accurate when written. Current price and availability are on the Amazon product page.
- We do not claim hands-on testing. We do not test RV equipment in the field, and no article on this site will say or imply that we did. Our work is research against manufacturer documentation, retailer listings, service literature, and aggregate patterns in owner reports. Where that method cannot answer a question, we say the question is open rather than inventing an answer.
- We do not reproduce customer reviews. Where owner feedback is informative, we describe the pattern in our own words and never quote or copy a review.
- We do not fabricate experience. No first-person stories about installing, owning, or travelling with a product appear on this site, because they would not be true.
- We do not disguise affiliate links behind wording designed to make them look like something else, and we do not place disclosure where a reader has to hunt for it. A disclosure appears in every article that contains an affiliate link, above the first such link.
Other affiliate programmes
At the time of this update, Amazon Associates is the only affiliate programme in which this site participates. If that changes — RV component manufacturers and specialist retailers run their own programmes — this page will be updated before any such link is published, and the same rules above will apply to it.
Questions
If anything about how this site earns money is unclear, or if you believe a link is not properly disclosed, tell us through the Contact page. We will fix it.
